Strategy retreat for a fintech startup leadership team

A three-day offsite for a leadership team that had moved through a crisis stage and reached a new growth point. The goal was not simply to change scenery, but to shape a shared vision, align on focus, and restore the kind of energy from which the team can build again.

Challenge Define the next-cycle vision and align key people around the future of the company
Format Facilitated strategy work, calls with the extended team, Kakheti, vineyards, a campfire, a culinary workshop, and a gala dinner at a winery
Outcome The team left with clarity, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense that the next stage could be built together

Context

After a period of constant urgent decisions, the team did not need a standard corporate trip or a schedule split into "work by day, entertainment by night". The request was strategic and deeply human: step out of firefighting mode, see the next horizon calmly, and rebuild trust inside the company core.

Georgia became part of the process, not just the backdrop. The road to Kakheti, shared dinners, vineyards, and the evening by the fire softened the intensity between work blocks. At one point, a company anthem appeared spontaneously around the campfire. It was not planned as an exercise. The team simply had enough closeness and energy for it to happen.

Day 1

Arrival and tuning in

The team arrived in Georgia, moved to Kakheti, settled into the place, and opened the retreat with a shared dinner and a campfire evening. The first day was designed to help people exhale and stop speaking only from their work roles.

Day 2

Strategy and focus

The core day centered on facilitated work: vision, strategic choices, priorities, and decisions for the next cycle. The extended team joined through conference calls so intermediate conclusions could be tested close to implementation.

Day 3

Ideas and celebration

The final day connected the outcomes with inspiration: new ideas, personal energy for the next phase, vineyards, grape picking, a culinary workshop, and a gala dinner at a winery with local wines and Georgian singing.
